Honors Music Institute

The Penn State Summer Music Camp (The Honors Music Institute) is one of the most exciting of its kind for talented high school musicians. Now in its ninth year, the Institute is an intensive, week-long immersion in the art of music making for talented high school students. As one of the most exciting summer music camps of 2023, specific areas of study include Chamber Choir (32 students), Jazz Combo (8 or more students), Wind Ensemble (50 students), Music Technology (up to 10 students), Composition (up to 6 students), and Piano (up to 24 students). Students entering 9th grade in the fall of 2023 (current 8th graders) through students who will graduate in the spring of 2023 (current seniors) are eligible to audition.

Penn’s Woods Music Festival

Penn’s Woods Music Festival (PWMF) offers outstanding chamber music, jazz and orchestral performances by professional musicians. Supported jointly by Penn State and the surrounding community, the festival seeks to inspire a passion for classical music through innovative concert programming, educational activities, and informal events.

The event will be held in Recital Hall, Music Building I

 

Keystone Concerto Festival  

The Keystone Concerto Festival will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Online registration will open on Monday, October 9, and will close on Wednesday, October 20 at 11:59 PM.

 

Dorothy Sutton Performance Festival and Keystone Concerto Festival

The 2024 PMTA Dorothy Sutton Performance Festival Showcase Recitals will occur on Saturday, November 9, at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA.
Local Music Teacher Associations are required to hold their preliminary auditions no later than Sunday, October 20.  Local Festival Chairs are required to submit their audition reports no later than Monday, October 21.  Online registration will open on October 14  and close on Sunday, October 27.

Dorothy Sutton Performance Festival and Keystone Concerto Festival

The Dorothy Sutton Performance Festival State Showcase recitals will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Once again, there will be no charge for participation thanks to the generosity of the Susan D. Miller Trust Fund from the York Music Teachers’ Association.

Teachers are responsible for registering their students online. Although there is no charge for students, there will be a fee of $40 for teachers not attending. Online Registration will open at 8:00 AM on Monday, October 9 and close at 11:59 PM on Wednesday, October 20.

Local associations must hold their festivals no later than Sunday, October 15, 2023. Local association reports will be due via email by 11:59 PM on Tuesday, October 17.
